Katja (played by Agnes Kittelsen) is seen by her neighbors as a perfect housewife. With her easy-going and friendly personality, she never raises her voice and always has a smile on her face, approaching life with seriousness and positivity. However, behind all this, Katja has been struggling with her marriage for many years, and everything good is merely a facade for her forced cheerfulness. One day, new neighbors Sigve (played by Henrik Rafaelsen) and Elisabeth (played by Maibritt Saerens) move in next door, and their elegant lifestyle makes Katja envious; they not only have part-time jobs in the choir but also have adopted a Black boy.
