Essentially, the film revolves around the undead Eric returning and gruesomely murdering Philip's girlfriend Helma. Thus, it becomes clear to him that Eric is not a Gonger. When Philip, deeply affected by this incident, returns to his hometown, he encounters the naked hatred of the villagers. Together with a few others who have lost loved ones to Eric, he moves into Villa Hansen and, using his experiences along with Felix’s cameras and equipment, develops a plan to destroy the spirit. Through Philip's dreams of the impending murders, everyone manages to survive for a long time, but as the film reaches its climax, it leads to a Final Destination-like chain massacre. Ultimately, the villagers, incited by the priest, decide to storm the villa when Eric strikes again. After several more murders, as well as the deaths of Pia and her boyfriend during a kiss, it comes to a showdown: Philip confronts Eric in the catacombs of the house and learns that he cannot be killed by him since he is not the last living Hansen. When he realizes that his daughter with Helma is the last Hansen, he takes her and leaves her with a distant shaman tribe to protect her. The final shot of the film shows Philip Hansen turning around with lifeless eyes.
