In 1989 Tel Aviv, young university student Boaz (played by Yoav Reuveni) has just been discharged from the military and is studying languages at university, with a beautiful girlfriend, Noa (played by Yehuda Nahari). He checks his mailbox every day for scholarship news, but one day he finds an anonymous letter inside: “Dear Boaz, please do not ask me who I am or how I know you; I think about you constantly, even though we are both men. Writing this letter to you secretly at my desk makes me feel ashamed, but I truly lack the courage to do more...” Boaz dismisses it as a prank and crumples the letter, yet he can't explain the blush and racing heart he feels at that moment. More anonymous love letters disrupt his inner peace. Angrily wanting to find out who his admirer is, he begins to reflect on his past and experiences during his military service. As he receives more visits and confirmations, he is shocked to discover that he harbors the same desires within himself... "Snail in the Rain" is the debut feature film by Israeli director Yariv Mozer, adapted from the 1995 Hebrew novel "The Garden of Dead Trees," written by Mr. Yossi Avni-Levy, former Israeli ambassador to the former Yugoslavia.
