In the village of Kijima, located on the border between Okayama Prefecture and Hyogo Prefecture, two prominent families, the Ryo family and the Nire family, are in opposition. At the request of the Okayama Prefectural Police's chief officer Isikawa Tsunejiro, Kindaichi Kosuke (played by Kato Seiryo) arrives at a hot spring inn called Kame-no-Yu.
