A regular apartment is home to a woman named Sayo (played by Sakura Ando) who has lost her husband, and her elementary school-aged son, Minato (played by Koya Kurokawa). Minato is taciturn and mature for his age, seemingly harboring infinite unspoken worries. Recently, Minato's unusual behavior has caused Sayo to feel uneasy. She learns from her son that he is being bullied by a teacher named Polly (played by Eita Nagayama), and she musters the courage to confront the school for answers. The school's attitude is ambiguous and dismissive, and they show a biased perception of her status as a single mother. As the tension escalates between the two sides, Sayo begins to discover a side of her son at school that she is unfamiliar with. In this process, another boy, Eri Hoshikawa (played by Yota Hiiragi), gets caught in the eye of the storm... This film won the Best Screenplay Award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival.
