This film is a political satire comedy, mostly featuring a cast from the acclaimed British television series "The Thick of It." The American President and the British Prime Minister suddenly wish to start a war. They promise it will be a quick one! American General Miller (James Gandolfini) does not think so, nor does British Secretary of State Simon Foster (Tom Holland). However, after Simon unexpectedly expresses his support for military action on a prime-time television show, he suddenly finds himself with many friends in Washington. If Simon can reach certain people in Washington, if his assistant (Chris Addison) can successfully seduce an intern (Anna Chlumsky), and if they can stop the Prime Minister's chief strategist Malcolm Tucker (Peter Capaldi) from manipulating the UN vote, they can prevent the war. If they can't... they can at least fire their advisor Judy (Gina McKee). Judy, whom they have never liked, is back home dealing with constituents upset about pipeline blockages and a furious man (Steve Coogan) whose wall has collapsed.
