In Major League Baseball (MLB), Billy (played by Brad Pitt) faces a setback when his team, the Oakland Athletics, loses to the wealthy New York Yankees. To make matters worse, three key players are lured away with huge contracts, leaving the future of the season bleak. During a management meeting, everyone is at a loss, but he is determined to transform the team. By chance, he meets Peter (played by Jonah Hill), a Yale economics graduate, and their philosophies on team operations align perfectly. With intuition and experience, he seems to have found the key to unlock the secrets of moneyball. He hires Peter as his advisor to figure out how to build a team with the highest winning percentage. They begin to unearth potential stars through mathematical modeling, gradually signing them through persuasion. They ignore the upper management's ridicule and concentrate on discovering the sources of confidence and strength for the team, and finally, the new season begins... The film is based on Michael Lewis's book "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game."
