Since the Gwangju Incident in May 1980, South Korea has strayed further down the path of military government dictatorship. Along with the rising calls for freedom from democratic activists, the government's suppression and trampling of human rights has become increasingly rampant. The secret base located in Namyeong-dong, Seoul, has left many democratic activists with indelible painful memories. On a day in September 1985, pro-democracy activist Kim Jong-tae (played by Park Won-sang) was secretly arrested and immediately taken to Namyeong-dong. In this cold and grim place, he was forced to write a personal statement without rest, while constantly enduring beatings and humiliations from interrogators. To force Kim to write a fabricated confession, a group of ruthless men led by torture expert Lee Do-hwan (played by Lee Kyung-yong) subjected Kim to over twenty days of torment using various methods of violence. They personally created one of the nation's most unbearable historical moments... This film is based on real events.
