Rebecca (played by Juliette Binoche) is a war photographer who travels around the world, increasingly drawn to the most dangerous locations for her work. One day, she is injured in a suicide bombing, and she sets aside her camera, leaving the battlefield to return to her husband Marcus (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and their daughter. Throughout, her family has struggled to understand Rebecca's passion for her job, and this time they hope she can completely say goodbye to this dangerous profession and return to family life. Her daughter needs to write a report on Africa, so Rebecca joins her at a refugee camp in Kenya. Unexpectedly, armed militants attack the camp, and Rebecca chooses to leave her daughter behind to capture the chaotic scenes of the refugee camp. Marcus can no longer tolerate Rebecca's obsession with her work, and he orders her to leave the family.
