In the eyes of everyone, Danielle (Juno Temple) is a troublesome delinquent girl. At a young age, she not only has terrible grades but also a stubborn personality that is surprisingly infuriating. Helpless, her mother, who is at her wit's end with Danielle, sends her to a remedial class concentrated with all the misfits for "reformation," which only makes Danielle more dissatisfied. In the class, Danielle meets a boy named Clark (Jeremy Dozier), and unexpectedly, she finds herself quite compatible with this effeminate, overweight boy. The two young people share many complaints about their lives and subconsciously avoid the responsibilities they must face. Thus, they quickly bond and embark on a journey of self-discovery — searching for Danielle's estranged biological father. However, it is this special journey that changes Danielle's personality, making her contemplate the meaning and value of being a person.
