The film won the Silver Bear for Best Script at the 2011 Berlin Film Festival. 17-year-old Nick (Tristan Halilaj) lives in the northern region of Albania. Soon to graduate from high school, he plans to open a small internet café to make a living. His 15-year-old sister, Rudina, hopes to get into university and live her dream life. However, this ordinary family becomes overwhelmed as they become embroiled in a land ownership dispute, with their father hiding in the mountains after being charged with murder. According to ancient customs, if a family kills someone, the victim's family can kill a male relative of the murderer in return. Therefore, all the men in the family are forbidden to leave home. The entire burden of the family falls on Rudina's shoulders. She is forced to leave school and work to support the family. The new responsibilities gradually help Rudina grow into a capable individual. Meanwhile, Nick, affected by a long period of isolation, grows increasingly frustrated and anxious. Ultimately, his negative emotions lead him to decide to use blood to understand the conflict within the family—even if this decision might cost him his life, he is willing to pay the price...
