At the foot of Mount Shirakami, there is a happy family of four living in the fishing village. However, a car accident leaves the mistress, Misako (played by Maki Kuno), severely injured and in a coma. Her son, Ryo (played by Masaki Izawa), is heartbroken and blames the mischievous puppy, Shiro. To comfort Ryo, his father, Takeshi Tagawa (played by Toshinori Omi), has no choice but to send Shiro away. However, Shiro escapes from captivity and embarks on a difficult journey back to the fishing village. Shiro lurks around the town, observing Ryo's every move from a distance. Setsuko Kikutani (played by Hiroko Yakushimaru), who usually cares for stray dogs, notices the pure white Akita and eventually becomes Shiro's new owner, naming him Pofu (played by Pofu). Soon, fate intertwines Pofu and Ryo once again... This film is based on true events, and the Pofu in the movie is portrayed by the real Pofu.
