The story takes place in a small American town in the 1990s. Zach and Josh have been best friends since childhood, cycling to and from school together every day, playing after school, and even having a crush on the same girl. However, their calm life is shattered one afternoon. A party gets out of control due to marijuana, and their friend Daryl bleeds to death in the classroom. The boys panic and vow to keep it a secret from each other. Zach's simple life seems to be torn apart, and he is overwhelmed by guilt, while Josh decides to stop going to school and doesn’t even step outside his house.
