Danny (Mel Raido) has just divorced his wife Angela (Maxine Peake) and is left with two young daughters. This down-and-out man doesn't know where to go. While drinking at a nightclub, Danny witnesses a fight, and the long-standing frustration and humiliation suddenly explode. He decides to intervene and stop the unfair brawl. Danny's actions catch the attention of the nightclub's bouncer, Lewis (Colin Salmon), who is shocked by the strength that bursts forth from Danny's small frame, and he decides to mentor him. Thus, Danny becomes a bouncer and starts hanging out with Lewis. Lewis not only teaches Danny how to use his fists correctly but also becomes his protector. As a bouncer, Danny does well, and while regaining his confidence, his life also gains hope.
