High school natural science teacher Jessica (played by Kim Basinger) is kidnapped, but fortunately there is an old rotary phone in the place where her captors are holding her. In a panic, Jessica randomly dials a number to seek help, and her call reaches a young man named Ryan (played by Chris Evans) on his mobile phone. Initially, Ryan thinks it's a prank, but soon the captors discover that Jessica is trying to call for help and smash the phone. Hearing the captors' shouts and Jessica's cries, Ryan realizes the situation is serious. After the captors leave, Jessica uses her knowledge from her natural science class to reassemble the phone and reconnect with Ryan. Through her account, Ryan learns that the captors are soon going to harm her husband and son, and Jessica doesn't even know where she is. Time is running out for Ryan, especially since his phone's battery is limited. Ryan must do everything he can to save Jessica and her family.
