The story follows Seymour after he acquires a peculiar plant that feeds on human blood, sacrificing his own well-being to win the favor of customers and the heart of a beautiful woman. However, while enjoying fame and fortune, he realizes that he can no longer control the plant's growth, and his life is in danger. Caught between conscience and ambition, Seymour ultimately awakens, leading to a battle between good and evil. The film was later adapted into an off-Broadway musical composed by Alan Menken, which was then further adapted into a movie.
