The story takes place in Italy in 1914, just before the outbreak of World War I. On a small island named Capri, shepherd girl Lucia (played by Marianna Fontana) accidentally stumbles into a mysterious settlement formed by a group of Nordic free artists while searching for her lost goat. There, everyone is naked, dancing freely to the music. This strange scene does not frighten Lucia; she takes off her clothes and quickly blends into the joyful atmosphere. Lucia was born into a very feudal family, and her brother wants to marry her off to an old man for profit. In the settlement, Lucia meets a man named Seb (played by Reinout Scholten van Aschat), who teaches her many ways to deal with life that she's never heard of before, giving her the courage to fight against her fate.
