Russell (Jean-Paul Rouve) is a crime novelist whose works were once extremely popular and beloved by readers. However, recently, Russell has encountered a writing block and found himself unable to produce interesting and engaging works. After the death of a distant relative, Russell inherits some belongings and travels to a small village located at the border of France and Switzerland. A murder case shocks the entire village and piques Russell's curiosity; the victim is a woman named Candice (Sophie Quinton), who is a well-known beauty in the area. The police skip the investigation and evidence-gathering stages, immediately ruling Candice's death as a suicide, which raises suspicions for the sensitive Russell. His professional instincts lead him to decide to investigate the truth of the event on his own.
