On November 11, 2010, on a farm in the United States, the farm owner Hoyt Miller (played by Jon Gries) celebrated his son Cody's (played by Nash Lucas) joyful eighth birthday. Little did they know that the boy, who had just been playing in front of the camera, would mysteriously disappear after a flash of blue light. Hoyt faced a lawsuit and intense scrutiny as a result. The U.S. government took notice of this bizarre incident and sent an investigation team to Miller's farm in 2011. The team included cultural anthropologist Dr. Sam Green (played by Steven Berg), Los Angeles reporter Cameron Murphy (played by Devin McGinn), photographer Braden Sloan (played by Michael Black), and veterinarian Lisa Morro (played by Erin Cahill), among other professionals.
