Carlos Galindo (Demián Bichir) is an undocumented immigrant who crossed the border from Mexico to the United States. His wife has long left him, and now he relies on his 14-year-old son, Luis Galindo, for companionship. Luis faces discrimination and bullying at school due to his father's status, but he remains silent when his father inquires about it, creating a deeper rift between them. In order to provide a better life for himself and his son, Carlos works hard to earn money. He works as a gardener, trimming lawns for various wealthy Americans. His boss is selling his second-hand truck and gardening tools because he wants to return to his home country. Hoping to make more money, Carlos borrows money from his sister to buy the old truck and tools that his boss no longer needs. However, one day, the old truck that Carlos relies on for survival is stolen by a neighborhood thug named Santiago (Carlos Linares). In their anxiety, father and son communicate openly for the first time, restoring their previous bond. They embark on a journey together to retrieve the stolen truck...
