Experience a captivating story—full of hope, devastating setbacks, dazzling creativity, courage, and triumph. This is the seventh stunning space film created by the award-winning IMAX space team. The "Hubble 3D" was shot with IMAX 3D technology, vividly presenting the birth of the most significant scientific instrument since the first Galileo telescope and humanity's greatest achievement in space since the moon landing—the Hubble Space Telescope. Audiences will experience up close the astronauts walking in space completing some of the most challenging tasks in NASA's history, as well as live through deployment to execution, from heartbreaking setbacks to dramatic rescues. "Hubble 3D" will also showcase a universe like never before, guiding audiences of all ages to experience the vast Milky Way, the birth and death of stars, and little-known secrets within the cosmic environment. This film is co-produced by IMAX and Warner Bros. Pictures, with assistance from NASA. The IMAX 3D cameras returned to space to capture NASA’s most complex space shuttle operations. On May 11, 2009, this batch of IMAX 3D cameras was launched aboard the Atlantis space shuttle. Astronauts used them to film the five spacewalks necessary for the repair and upgrade of the Hubble Telescope. "Hubble 3D" is led by producer and director Toni Myers and features the team behind "International Space Station," with director of photography James Neihouse also serving as the guide for all astronauts. Judy Carroll served as co-producer, while Graham Ferguson, one of the founders of IMAX who has produced many IMAX space films, provided production consulting.
