Liang Wendao stated: "John Berger is the true heir of the Western leftist romantic spirit, one hand wielding sharp commentary in the public realm, and the other engaged in profound and introspective fictional creation." John Berger passed away in January this year, making this documentary a precious record of his later life. The film consists of four stylistically distinct short films that link the four seasons. Set in the small town of Quincy where John Berger lived, it uses simple stories and poetic imagery to strip away the aura of the artist and celebrity, revealing him as an ordinary, sincere, and unadorned old man. The residents of the small village each have their own stories. The director also intertwines more historical footage into the life of the old man, creating a sense of poetic transcendence and imaginative space, resulting in a beautifully crafted documentary.
