Sheng Nan (played by Yao Chen) is an independent and ambitious woman who yearns for true love yet remains alone. After an unexpected diagnosis of ovarian cancer requiring surgery, she finds herself unsupported by her father, who is having an affair, and her childish mother. To raise money for the surgery, she is forced to take a job she dislikes. Proud by nature, Sheng Nan realizes that the dignity of adult survival is more difficult than she imagined.
