The chivalrous swordsman Jia Yi (played by Jacky Cheung) accidentally learns that the Ghost King is about to wreak havoc on the world. He heads to the Ancient Sword Manor to seek the manor's ultimate skills to eliminate the Ghost King in its nascent stage. On the way, Jia Yi encounters a runaway bride, Gu Mengxue (played by Joey Wong), and they develop feelings for each other. However, in the end, Gu Mengxue leaves Jia Yi and becomes someone else's wife. The manor's master, Yan Ying, informs Jia Yi that the Ghost King has forcibly taken a woman as his bride, and that woman is none other than Gu Mengxue. Jia Yi learns the truth, but it's too late. He ventures into the underworld to rescue Gu Mengxue, leading to a fierce battle with the Ghost King. During the fight, Jia Yi is seriously injured, but fortunately, he is saved by the fox spirit Qing'er (played by Barbara Yung), allowing him to survive. After regrouping, Jia Yi employs the Sun Chaser technique, hoping to turn back time and change history.
