During the war of resistance, the northeastern gambling king Yu Zhenhai (played by Zheng Shaoqiu) came to Shanghai to help his mentor reclaim the casino, the Paramount, which had been taken by the Shanghai gangster Feng Jingyao (played by Pan Zhiwen). He brought along his men and his mentor's son, Luo Tianyou. Yu Zhenhai challenged Feng Jingyao to a gambling duel with the Paramount as the stakes. Although Feng Jingyao knew that Yu Zhenhai had malicious intentions, he agreed to the challenge for the sake of his reputation. This created a tense atmosphere in Shanghai, as everyone eagerly awaited the so-called century gamble showdown. At the same time, the patriotic youth Xu Wengqiang (played by Chen Jinhong) also arrived in Shanghai, hoping to make a name for himself. While in Shanghai, he coincidentally met the street vendor Ding Li (played by Lin Jiadong), who grew up here, and the two became brothers, starting to carve out their own territory together. With the help of Xianggui and the socialite Fang Yanyun, Xu Wengqiang and Ding Li gradually became known in the underworld, with Xu Wengqiang even forming a close bond with Yu Zhenhai and jointly managing a theater. Meanwhile, beneath the seemingly calm surface of Shanghai, fierce battles for survival are brewing.
