From then on, he stays with his grandfather Zhou Dafu (Ng Man-tat) by Ding Li's side. Ding Li's girlfriend, Ru Xian (Gong Li), captivates Ah Xing's heart, unaware that she is the twin sister of the girl he is fond of, Ru Meng (Gong Li). Chuan Dao Fang Zi intends to control Shanghai, often challenging Ding Li with the military, and decides that the final outcome will be determined by a gamble.
