In the 1920s, during a time of turbulence and chaos, there was no place of peace in the land of China. Warlords rose to power, engaging in brutal battles. Warlord Young Marshal Hou Jie (played by Andy Lau) was arrogant and tyrannical, treating civilians like grass, yet he couldn't escape his own fate. As the saying goes, the banner on the city wall changes frequently; in the blink of an eye, Hou Jie’s glory was gone—his aide Cao Man (played by Edison Chen) schemed for power, his wife Yan Xi (played by Fan Bingbing) left him, and his daughter died. These blows left this once formidable warrior in despair. During his time of decline at the Shaolin Temple, Hou Jie met monks such as Wu Dao (played by Jackie Chan), Jing Neng (played by Wu Jing), Jing Hai (played by Yu Shaoqun), and Jing Kong (played by Shi Yanneng), gradually understanding the karmic consequences of his past sins, leading him to abandon greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt, and sincerely turn to Buddism. Meanwhile, an even greater disaster was approaching Shaolin... The abbot of Shaolin Temple, Shi Yongxin, served as the producer of this film.
