Due to a kidnapping by bandits, a pair of twin brothers are separated at birth. The younger brother, Danny (Jackie Chan), is picked up and raised by a nightclub dancer, wandering through the lower levels of society. To help his friend win over a girl, he meets the singer Barbara (Maggie Cheung), which angers the mafia. The older brother, Mao You (Jackie Chan), is taken to America by a wealthy couple, receives a good education, and grows up to be a famous musician. When he returns to Hong Kong for a concert, he meets the daughter of a wealthy family, Tang Xin (Michelle Lee). In a twist of fate, the two swap roles and enter each other's lives, leading to a series of misunderstandings as no one can tell who is Mao You and who is Danny, resulting in comical situations. Barbara and Tang Xin also find their feelings beginning to change. At the concert, Danny mistakenly performs wildly but achieves great success, while Mao You, under pressure from the gang, drives to rescue his friend Tai Shan, who has been taken hostage. Subsequently, the two brothers join forces to fight against their strong enemies.
