Due to a kidnapping by bandits, a pair of twin brothers are separated at birth. The younger brother, Danny (Jackie Chan), is picked up and raised by a nightclub dancer, wandering through the lower levels of society. To help his friend win over a girl, he meets the singer Barbara (Maggie Cheung), which angers the mafia. The older brother, Mao You (Jackie Chan), is taken to America by a wealthy couple, receives a good education, and grows up to be a famous musician. When he returns to Hong Kong for a concert, he meets the daughter of a wealthy family, Tang Xin (Michelle Lee). In a twist of fate, the two swap roles and enter each other's lives, leading to a series of misunderstandings as no one can tell who is Mao You and who is Danny, resulting in comical situations.
