Cheung (played by Shawn Yue) is a snake-catching police officer in Hong Kong's Sham Shui Po. As a bottom-tier officer, Cheung spends his days dealing with a world rarely seen by the light, filled with violence and drugs, a dark corner of society. To survive here, Cheung needs to learn not just how to be a police officer, but also the survival rules of the underworld. Gradually, Cheung's identity becomes increasingly blurred, living in the gray area between black and white. Lulu (played by Kwan Shek-Lai) is a prostitute in the area, with whom Cheung maintains a relationship but never takes further. One day, by accident, Cheung kills a minor gang leader, Siu Yan Tong (played by Lau Kwok-Cheung), and a mysterious killer (played by Fan Siu-Wong) is the only witness. To protect himself, Cheung engages in a chase with the mysterious killer… What secrets lie behind the killer? Will Cheung be able to escape this calamity? "Moss" shows us how the small people in the dark places of society manage to survive like moss.
