This film is a remake of the Hollywood movie of the same name from 1984. 12-year-old Dre Parker (played by Jaden Smith) moves from Detroit to Beijing, China with his mother (played by Taraji P. Henson) and meets a Chinese girl named Mei Ying (played by Han Wenwen) at his school who plays the violin. Dre's relationship with Mei Ying draws the ire of a group led by Cheng (played by Wang Zhenwei), and during a fight, Dre, at a disadvantage, is saved by the apartment manager Mr. Han (played by Jackie Chan), but he offends Cheng's martial arts teacher Master Li (played by Yu Rongguang). Mr. Han and Master Li agree to have their students compete in a tournament. From then on, Dre begins training in Chinese kung fu under Mr. Han, learning martial arts and the essence of life through both physical training and character development, while also forming a deep friendship with Mr. Han. But can Dre, with only short-term training, defeat Cheng in the brutal tournament and achieve ultimate victory?
