His son Yulang is saved by hiding in a well with a loyal servant. Liu pursues the demon king but is injured and forced to retreat. Later, Liu, along with his son, servant, and apprentice Hu Zifeng (Zhang Peishan), sets out to seek revenge. After three years of hardship, Hu grows impatient with the solitude and assaults a villager woman, which Liu discovers. After killing the woman to take revenge, Hu flees. Liu adopts the woman’s orphan Yuchan as his apprentice and gives up on seeking vengeance and his title as a chaser.
