Josephine, who has immersed herself in historical research for decades, feels utterly inadequate in front of her elegant, beautiful, and radiant sister, Elise: their parents do not care for her, her sister does not love her, her daughter does not respect her, and her husband has eloped with his mistress to Africa to raise crocodiles.
