Jim (Bill Pullman) and Abbo (Chris Pine) are a father and son with vastly different personalities. Although they often clash due to their differing opinions, their conflicts spark many moments of wisdom. Jim and Abbo aim to craft a wine called "Chardonnay" to compete with the winemakers in southern France. Stephen (Alan Rickman) is a wine merchant who travels extensively to save his struggling winery. He discovers Abbo's Chardonnay and is determined to bring it under his wing, but his arrogant attitude annoys Jim. Behind his father's back, Abbo sends two bottles of Chardonnay to Stephen's tasting event, while Jim is shocked to find that his wine has turned color, which means that everything he has is nothing more than worthless sour liquid. In despair, Jim decides to destroy all the wines.
