Young scientist Seth (Jeff Goldblum) has just invented an "electric teleporter" capable of transmitting objects, which can disassemble objects and automatically reassemble them after transmission. Excited, Seth decides to personally experience the teleporter, so he steps into the transport chamber. Unfortunately, a fly flies into the chamber at the same time, and when the machine reassembles Seth’s disassembled molecules, it inadvertently fuses the fly's molecules into his body. Seth becomes a fly-man with half fly genes. At first, Seth’s body becomes strong and energetic, much like Spider-Man, and his girlfriend Veronica (Geena Davis) can hardly believe his wild claims. However, as Seth's body rapidly begins to deteriorate, growing hair, losing teeth, and oozing everywhere, Veronica gradually comes to accept the reality.
