In the oppressive feudal era, women had no freedom; love was a fantastical concept, unheard of and a terrifying thing they could never easily touch throughout their lives. They spent their lives tightly locking away their souls for the sake of the chastity arch. Since ancient times, there have been 15 archways standing in the Love Erosion Beach, which is known for producing virtuous beauties. The archways contain the bitterness of worldly affairs and the hardships of life. Sadly, whether in ancient or modern times, the fate of women shows little difference. In modern society, Boss Wu of the Night Jasmine Tavern has unspoken troubles; he develops a perverse possessiveness towards his beautiful wife, Guihua (played by Gu Yan). When Guihua proposes divorce, she faces opposition from the entire village. During the Qing Dynasty, a young girl named Qingyu (played by Fu Yiwei), in the bloom of youth, is forced to live in chastity after becoming a widow; she witnesses the sacrifices made by her Aunt Wu for love while lamenting her own tragic fate.
