Shiori (played by Mao Inoue), who dreams of becoming an illustrator, has one major weakness: she is extremely bad at English and gets headaches just from seeing it. During a certain English exam in middle school, she even scored a mere 4 points. Shiori believes she will have no relationship with English for the rest of her life, but unexpectedly meets Tony (played by Jonathan Sherr), an American writer. Tony is obsessed with various languages and has always admired the beauty of Chinese characters. By chance, he comes to Japan and meets the illustrator Shiori. Thus begins a cross-cultural romance. Throughout their relationship, they encounter many differences in thought due to their backgrounds, but these differences don't lead to conflict; instead, they become a way for the two to understand each other better. At Shiori's sister's (played by Ryoko Kuninaka) wedding, the couple, who are already living together, consider marriage. However, this seems to be a troublesome issue... This series is adapted from Saito Otaro's manga of the same name, and the story is based on the real-life romance between the author and her American lover, Tony, filled with charming little details.
