During the summer vacation, seven-year-old Ning Ning is sent back to the countryside to be cared for by his over seventy-year-old grandfather, Li Fuchang. Li Fuchang accidentally gets in touch with an old friend, who is suffering from a stroke and has little time left. He decides to take his grandson and ride a motorcycle tricycle to visit his old friend, who is a thousand miles away.
