After the September 18 Incident, Northeast China fell, and Chen Peter (played by Chen Peisi), an actor from a theater troupe in Tianjin, refused to be a slave to a fallen country and vowed to become a national hero. One day, while the theater was staging a patriotic play, the lead actor quit, and in a moment of crisis, the director (played by Zhao Yong) had no choice but to let Chen Peter step in.
