Former Macao police officer Liang Jinghui (played by Lin Jiadong) is seen by others as a paranoid eccentric, rarely smiling. He frequently buys various kinds of spices and hides in his small room searching for something. He often sits alone in a regular tea house, mumbling to himself. A senior executive of an online finance company, Simon (played by Li Dongheng), and Guo Wanjun (played by Cai Jie) catch Liang Jinghui's attention, prompting him to quit his job and join the finance company. Like a domino effect, a series of events unfolds, leading Liang Jinghui to believe he has found a clue. However, a hacker (played by Dai Xianyang) being pursued by female police officer Zhou Peishi (played by Niu Liyan) appears and disappears like a ghost, making the mystery even more puzzling. The arrival of Zhang Ziqi (played by Liao Yinman) brings Liang Jinghui to a crossroads of redemption, but he seems unable to escape the trap set by the mysterious figure (played by Qian Bo), re-enacting the defeat he faced three years ago with the perfumed trap.
