Sean (Emile Hirsch) and Ben (Max Minghella) are two software engineers from the United States who travel to Moscow for business after developing a new software. They go out to a bar for fun at night and encounter Natalie (Olivia Thirlby) and Anne (Rachael Taylor), who are vacationing in Russia. The four flirt and have a good time, but soon they are faced with a devastating alien invasion, as an extraterrestrial entity manifests as an energy field that obliterates any life form it touches. The four young Americans manage to hide and, as night falls, attempt to escape the ravaged Red Square. They discover that electricity can sense the aliens’ presence and find a geeky old man who has set up an electromagnetic array in his home. Working together, they try to locate all the survivors and use their knowledge of electromagnetism to strike back at the aliens...
