An American college student, Sandra (Scarlett Johansson), goes to London to interview a film director in search of exclusive news for her school newspaper. During her investigation and interviews, she attends a magic show performed by magician Sid (Woody Allen), where she encounters the ghost of a seasoned journalist who has passed away. The journalist was someone who would stop at nothing to get exclusive news in life. On his way to the afterlife, he learns from a victimized former secretary that the "Tarot Card Killer" is actually the handsome and wealthy nobleman, Peter (Hugh Jackman). Not wanting this explosive news to be buried, he seeks out Sandra to help fulfill his wish. Facing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Sandra decides to dive into danger, teaming up with magician Sid to pose as father and daughter to infiltrate high society and get close to Peter.
