At midnight, a taxi drives into an alley. After two women and a man kill the female driver for money, they discover that her body has mysteriously disappeared, and a terrifying ghostly figure appears outside the car... Xu Zi (played by Chen Xiaochun), an aspiring writer, struggles to find success in Beijing while living with his girlfriend Lin Zheng (played by Deng Ziyi). To supplement their income and find material for his novel, Xu Zi, encouraged by his girlfriend, starts driving a taxi. The hard work doesn’t bother him much, but a series of strange events leaves him puzzled. To uncover the mystery of the bizarre taxi that vanished and the shadows inside it that are neither clear whether they are human or ghostly, Xu Zi, accompanied by his girlfriend, begins a midnight investigation. During this time, a close colleague of Xu Zi suffers from exhaustion and ultimately dies of a heart attack.
