Jiang Lishen (played by Tang Wenlong) is born with the ability to see both the living and the dead. He works for underworld boss Zhi Xiong, having a kind heart and a willingness to help others. One day, he unexpectedly encounters the wandering spirit of Zhong Tai seeking a substitute. Unable to bear seeing it fall into a state of no return, he saves Ying Ying. However, this good deed disrupts the law of Yin and Yang, enraging the vengeful spirit Zhong Tai, who should have been at rest. To ensure his beloved son Zhong Zai can reincarnate soon, Zhong Tai begins to relentlessly pursue Lishen, even possessing Zhong Zai to put Lishen in a life-and-death crisis. Jiang Lishen's friend Bi Ji seeks Bi Ren to exorcise the ghost, but Bi Ren's abilities are limited, failing to resolve the issue and instead provoking Zhong Tai, worsening the situation. Bi Ji has no choice but to call in Long Di to solve this problem. Under Long Di's investigation, it is discovered that Lishen's good intentions have led to a series of calamities, and Ying Ying's family has also suffered misfortune. It turns out that Zhong Tai died from drowning while pregnant, and his beloved son Zhong Zai has yet to reincarnate. Lishen's interference in the substitute search has caused Zhong Tai's resentment to grow stronger. As a negotiation expert, Long Di successfully persuades Zhong Tai to accept the situation and brings in the Five Wheel Dharma King to inquire about Zhong Zai's failure to be reborn, aiming to resolve this dispute.
