In an ordinary small town, single mother Yoko Uemura (played by Yui Natsukawa), who works on the ground floor of a hotel, is raising her four children: Momoko, Mitsuo, Mio, and Hana (played by Mana Ashida) on her own. The youngest, Hana, is mischievous and adorable, being the joy of the family; however, she often feels unappreciated and runs to her grandparents' house next door (played by Toshimi Kobayashi and Shima Iwashita) to cry when she feels hurt. Soon, her kind grandfather passes away, leaving her grandmother with a constant look of loneliness. Hana moves next door to live, and the two of them depend on each other for happiness and joy. Time flies, and before long, Hana (played by Kii Kitano) grows up, and the little house can no longer contain her. Meanwhile, her grandmother continues to encourage her to move forward… This film is adapted from the same-named original work by Kana Uemura.
