Libby (played by Charlize Theron) has a traumatic childhood that she wishes to forget. Her mother and two sisters fell victim to a deranged killer, dying in a pool of blood, while Libby was fortunate to escape. Later, in court, she identifies her brother, Ben (played by Corey Stoll), as the culprit, and he is subsequently imprisoned. This tragic incident sparked a strong social response, with people writing letters and donating money to the unfortunate Libby. With these donations, Libby grew up, but the shadows of her past turned her into a woman who wasted her days in self-destructive behavior. As time passed, Libby began to fade into obscurity; the donations dwindled, and her living conditions worsened. At this moment, a young man named Lyle (played by Nicholas Hoult) finds her and spends a lot of money to invite Libby to the "Killer Club." Encouraged by the club's oddballs and Lyle, Libby starts to revisit the case she has been avoiding, and some doubts gradually come to light.
