In 1940, Britain is under constant attack from enemy air raids, but more shattered than the war-torn London is the despair in the hearts of its people. In the face of unpredictable life and death, films become the only source of solace. The Ministry of Information's film department aims to boost national morale and public spirit by producing political propaganda films. To bring more female perspectives into the films, Katherine (Gemma Arterton), a copywriter from the advertising world, is invited to join the writing team alongside editor Buckley (Sam Claflin) to pen a script that celebrates the bravery of the British during the Dunkirk evasion. The masculine Buckley encounters the gentle Katherine, and their sharp banter and witty exchanges are endless. However, as they endure the chaotic rush of filming and scriptwriting together, a silent understanding and budding romance start to blossom.
