The story takes place in a small fishing village in Sicily, with actors who are local residents. "The Land is Shaking" is a great film that emerged from the Italian Neorealism movement. In the idyllic Sicilian fishing village, fishermen have been engaged in their ancient profession for generations, living according to the ways of their ancestors, no matter how difficult and challenging. They have always been oppressed by fishmongers and boat owners. Struck by the injustice they suffer, young fisherman Nino joins others to rise up against them, and they are arrested for disturbing the peace. Nino refuses to yield; he persuades his family to mortgage their home and starts his own business. However, during a storm, they lose their fishing boat. At their wits' end, the young fishermen are forced to return to work under the fishmongers, accepting their vile conditions. They lose not only their families but also the unity among the villagers.
