"The New Recruit" tells the story of rich kid Ken (played by Chen Wei En) who, after graduating from high school, receives his National Service notification in Singapore. His mother (played by Hong Ai Ling) tries every possible way to help her son defer his enlistment, but all in vain. Reluctantly, Ken joins the army and meets boastful Wang Luo Bang (played by Wang Wei Liang), sycophantic Waylang (played by Lin Jun Liang), and the unattractive IP man (played by Ye Rong Yao). Ken and Luo Bang often find various excuses to evade training. One day, Ken learns that his girlfriend has moved on to someone else. In an attempt to escape the military and win her back, he pushes himself to the brink of illness.
