The story takes place in the summer of 1988. Shinozaki Enma (played by Suda Masaki) is an ordinary second-year high school student. A long time ago, his mother, Riko (played by Tanaka Yuko), chose to leave home due to the unbearable violence from his father, Aen (played by Mitsuishi Ken). Now, as Enma grows up, he vows to never become a man like his father. Enma has a childhood friend and girlfriend, Chizuru (played by Kinoshita Misaki). During their time together, Enma is surprised to find that the violent genes from his father are deeply hidden within him and are now stirring, knowing that the impulse he is desperately repressing will one day be unleashed onto Chizuru, and that day is not far off. Aen's new partner, Kanoko (played by Shinohara Yuki), also suffers from his violence. Pregnant, Kanoko chooses to run away from home, and Enma tells his father about this, igniting the fuse of tragedy.
