Jeremy (also known as Powder) is tragically struck by lightning on the way to the hospital. After giving birth to Powder (played by Sean Patrick Flanery), who is entirely hairless and resembles an albino, she dies shortly after. Powder is despised and abandoned by his father. His grandparents raise him, but to protect Powder from outside discrimination, they confine him in the basement for over a decade. During this time, Powder never has contact with the outside world; his only companions are various books. This peaceful existence is finally disrupted after his grandparents pass away. Police and social workers discover Powder's presence and bring him back into the world of ordinary people. At school, Powder faces ridicule from classmates, who are simultaneously frightened by his unique supernatural abilities. In this unfamiliar world, can Powder truly fit in?
